John M. Spencer

John M. Spencer Esquire is a graduate of the University of North Carolina- Charlotte with a B.A. in History. Mr. Spencer graduated Cum Laude and as a member of the Golden Key National Honor Society. Mr. Spencer was awarded the degree of Juris Doctor from the University of North Carolina- Chapel Hill. While pursuing this degree Mr. Spencer was a member of the Trial Law Academy and Criminal Defense Clinic. He also served as the treasurer of the Domestic Violence Advocacy Program.

Prior to founding Spencer, Mayoras, Henderson, and Koch, Mr. Spencer founded Spencer & Seguin, PLC. Before founding Spencer & Seguin, PLC, Mr. Spencer served in the United Stated Air Force as a canine handler/Security Policeman from 1988 – 1991. Upon completion of his military service Mr. Spencer returned to New York where he served as a police officer from 1992 – 1997. After receiving his law degree, Mr. Spencer worked for the law firm of Steptoe & Johnson, LLP, in Washington D.C. He left that position to focus on trial work at the Office of the Public Defender in Fredericksburg, VA. Mr. Spencer is a member of the Virginia State Bar and concentrates his practice in mainly criminal matters ranging from traffic infractions to 1str degree murder.

John D. Mayoras

John D. Mayoras is graduate of the University of Michigan where he obtained his Bachelor of the Arts in English. He then attended the University of North Carolina Law School at Chapel Hill and has been practicing in Virginia since 2003. While in law school, John was a member of the Criminal Clinic where he defended clients in criminal cases. He also was a member of the Innocence Project, a foundation that attempts to free the wrongly convicted. John worked as a Research Assistant for Professor Gail Agrawal, and was an intern for the North Carolina Attorney General's Office.

In 2004, John joined the Fredericksburg Public Defenders Office, while there he worked in numerous jurisdictions, including Spotsylvania County, Stafford County, King George, and the City of Fredericksburg. Upon leaving the Public Defender's office, John became a partner with Spencer, Mayoras, Henderson, & Koch, PLC. John is experienced in handling a diverse assortment of criminal cases ranging from serious violent felonies to traffic offenses.

Ashley P. Henderson

Ashley Henderson graduated from Virginia Tech and then graduated from Wake Forest School of Law. After law school, Mrs. Henderson began working at the Prince William County Commonwealth’s Attorney Office. With her third year practice certificate Mrs. Henderson represented the Commonwealth in cases in Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court, General District Court, and Circuit Court. Mrs. Henderson negotiated agreements, tried cases, including jury trials, and prepared appeals.

Following the Prince William County Commonwealth’s Attorney Office Mrs. Henderson was an associate with Spencer & Seguin, PLC for two years. While at Spencer & Seguin, PLC Mrs. Henderson practiced primarily in the area of criminal defense. She handled cases from traffic tickets to robbery. Mrs. Henderson had the opportunity while at Spencer & Seguin, PLC to assist Mr. Spencer in a murder trial. Mrs. Henderson practiced in Fairfax, Arlington, Prince William and Loudoun while with Spencer & Seguin, PLC and continues to do so today.

Beginning January 2009 Mrs. Henderson became a founding partner with Spencer, Mayoras, Henderson, & Koch, PLC. Mrs. Henderson continues in her path of criminal law representing defendant’s in their unfortunate encounters with the police. She zealously advocates on behalf of her clients and has represented clients charged with misdemeanors and felonies including drug charges, grand larceny, embezzlement and traffic violations.

G. Price Koch

Price Koch graduated from New York University in 1998 and received his law degree from George Mason University School of Law in 2005. He started practicing criminal law with the Public Defender’s Office in Fredericksburg where he handled numerous cases and jury trials. After working with the Public Defender’s Office, he joined the law firm of Spencer & Seguin PLC. With Spencer & Seguin PLC, he continued criminal defense, handling a number of computer and sex crime jury trials.

Mr. Koch has a real passion for criminal defense that shows in his courtroom vigor. Even in the first few years of his criminal practice, he has conducted a number of jury trials with successful outcomes. He does not shy away from taking risks and advocating for individuals who might otherwise not have a champion in their corner. Given this experience, he can confidently advise clients the differences and advantages between the possible outcomes of a trial or a plea. Recently, he has argued before the Court of Appeals of Virginia and has been handling a number of criminal appeals to higher courts.

Mr. Koch has been a partner with Spencer, Mayoras, Henderson & Koch PLC since January 2009. He continues to solely focus his skills in the law of criminal defense, from minor traffic offenses to major felony jury trials.

Andy J. Cornick

Andy Cornick has devoted his career to the practice of criminal law. While a law student at the University of Richmond, he clerked at one of the most prestigious criminal defense law firms in Richmond. Upon graduation Andy was asked to associate with the firm — the first offer extended to a law clerk in over fourteen years. Andy enjoyed success in matters ranging from traffic infractions to serious felonies such as aggravated malicious wounding and attempted murder. Andy represented clients in the courts of over thirty Virginia jurisdictions, as well as in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.

Feeling the call to public service, Andy accepted a position as prosecutor for the City of Fredericksburg in 2006. During his tenure with the City, Andy prosecuted nearly every imaginable type of case and routinely advised and trained the officers of the Fredericksburg Police Department. Andy also served as a special prosecutor in Hanover, Spotsylvania, and Stafford Counties. In February 2009, Andy was one of approximately 80 prosecutors chosen nationwide by one of the nation's largest professional organizations for prosecutors to receive special in-depth training in the prosecution of online crimes against children.

Andy is admitted to practice in the state courts of Virginia and in the United States District Courts of the Eastern and Western Districts of Virginia, as well as the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. He is a member of the Fredericksburg Area Bar Association, and serves on the Judicial Selection Committee and the By-Laws Committee. Andy is also on the Board of Directors of the Young Graduates Association at the University of Richmond School of Law.

Andy represents defendants in criminal trials and appeals throughout Virginia.
